The movie is about a bunch of talented and aspiring
college students who start a theatre group called "Aasma"
which means "sky".
Aasma is a story about a theatre group comprising of
talented and aspiring college and actors set out to have
some fun. Somewhere along their journey, they realize
that they want more. They want to touch the sky with
their brilliance. This is a story of people who have
faith in spite of the tribulation that life throws at
them. Through their insecurities, anxieties, and
dilemmas they find that friendship and dedication leads
them to near heights, beyond the darkness that
temporarily blinds each of them.
Aasma has a bunch of
talented artists (Shubhashish, Seema Biswas, Hrishita,
Raghuveer, Joy, Mushtaq and others) but then luck has
been eluding them for quite a while. They are unable to
get offers to play and this leads to more problems.

The music
needs a special mention as a maestro like Rahat fateh
Ali Khan has lent his voice to this film because he
whole heartedly felt the content was worth it. ‘Yeh Pal’
is already a rage, while the soulful song ‘Mann Bawara’
is a slow romantic number that one can enjoy to
rejuvenate the mood. On the other hand the very raunchy
‘Choole Aasma’ makes every party person step into his
dancing shoes.
The
singers include popular names like Shaan, K.K, Kailash
Kher, Mahalaxmi and Hero Honda sa re ga ma pa winner
Debojit.
The film appears as a hotch-potch of various other
movies. While the in the first half there is a regular
tale of moments, post interval it gets emotional and
melodramatic at many instances. Aasma is closer to
reality. It is about friendship, courage & having faith
in knowing that to achieve your dreams, sky is the
limit!

The final nail on the head
is hit when its main sponsor (Sachin Khedekar) backs out
of the group and this makes them fall on to doldrums.
From then on, the group tries to pool in their sources
and try to restructure things but when all this is
happening, it is discovered that the main character
Shubh discovers that he is affected with HIV disease.
Here onwards, the film preaches how to live life
normally even after facing such situations. How do they
cope up with this situation forms the rest of the story.
Debutant actor Shubhashish
is the real performer who makes an impression. The
beautiful and sexy Nauheed Cyrussi and Hrishitaa Bhatt
did not have much to offer in their roles. Raghuveer
Yadav and Seema Biswas make their presence felt, but it
was Mushtaq Khan and Sunil Rege who managed to do a good
show.
