Bad luck Govind, movie review

Bad Luck Govind is the story of an obsessive, compulsive, down on his luck, young man Govind (VJ Gaurav Kapur), who has somewhat of a mind-blowing disconnect with the higher powers of the universe.

His bad luck is so strong that it immediately passes on to those around him. Badluck Govind movie review…

Like, even cows stop producing milk when he walks by a ‘tabela’. Even fresh milk instantly curdles when poured into a cup of tea, people fall of their bicycles, and such funny bad luck moments.

Working in Delhi in a TV Channel as a production assistant, he gets fed up of his forever running bad luck and now heads to Mumbai to change his luck for the better.

A hilarious natural incident with news anchor Mamta (special appearance Archana Puran Singh) lands Govind in Mumbai from his native Delhi, where the stage is now set for Bad Luck Govind, when six madcap underworld ‘bhai’ bookies and a gorgeous nurse collide – as their collective kismat’s intertwine and explode in more ways than one can keep count.

What follows is madness, mayhem and hyper drama as Govind learns to romance life and rediscover faith in the power of positive.

On arriving in Mumbai, his luggage gets stolen and to earn some quick money he decides to go for sperm donation. Here he comes across Dr. Anu (Hrishita Bhatt) and a wannabe actor Vishal (Amit Mistry) who helps him move ahead. Vishal takes Govind to a local bookie Kapoor (Parmeet Sethi) and thus begins Govind’s up and down, left and right journey into the hands of wrong people who misuse his bad luck for their own benefit. In the end Govind realizes his luck is not really that bad in other aspects and new situations in his life.

The concept in Bad luck Govind is different and some initial few minutes are engaging and have some freshness. Bus as usual in other hindi flicks, as the film proceeds, it ends up being a long story, when will it end?

VJ turned actor Gaurav Kapoor is natural and the appealing Hrishita Bhatt is just okay. Govind Namdeo and Vrajesh Hirjee perform their own created image roles. Amit Mistry is impressive, but Archana Puran Singh and Parmeet Sethi are just above the mediocre levels.

Eventually, of course, Govind discovers the power of the positive.

The debutante director, Varun Khanna is unable to exploit a fresh premise which had the potential to be a decent comedy but falls short of that. Bad luck Govind. Really badluck director sahab.
