Bal Ganesh
Dazzling animation film on Lord Ganesha's childhood

Genre: Adventure/Comedy    Recommended: General Audience    Released: 26 October 2007

A 3-D Toon Film on the adventures and deeds of Lord Ganesha's childhood.

Bal Ganesh, directed by Pankaj Sharma is a 3D animated film. The film begins with engrossing and fast-paced story of the child's transformation into Lord Ganesha. Brilliantly illustrated is the confrontation between the young Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiva, where, on his mother's (Goddess Parvati) orders, child Ganesha stands guard at the door as she goes for her bath.

Ganesha's brother Lord Kartika circles the physical world on his "vahana" - the peacock, and here too, Ganesha uses his brains and he circles his parents - using the adage that our parents are our world - and he wins the race.

Many funny moments are colourfully illustrated in this film, especially the point where Lord Ganesha is invited for a meal at Lord Kubera's house, and even after tucking in huge amount of food, his hunger is not satiated and mischievously announces that if food is over, he humorously threatens that he would even relish eating Lord Kuber.

He lets no one in, not even his father Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva loses his temper, and even threatens him, but Ganesha doesn't budge.

Lord Shiva unleashes Nandi and his other followers on Ganesha who single-handedly tackles them and even Lord Brahma. Lord Shiva then resorts to his dance of fury - Tandava. The beheading of Lord Ganesha was in presence of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi. Mother Parvati's upset, and then Lord Shiva brings Lord Ganesha back to life by giving him an elephant's head.

There are other enjoyable moments created by Ganesha's adorable rat companion - Mooshak, the child Ganesha constantly getting into trouble with his mother and his attempts to pin his folly on Mooshak.

The number Ganpati Bappa Maurya and the theme music for Lord Shiva are outstanding in the soundtrack by Shamir Tondan and Sanjay Dhakan.

The animated characters of Bal Ganesh, Mooshak are colourful, emotive and even sensitive even as they go on about their naughty antics.
