Passengers - Movie review
There have been a spate of sci-fi movies and more so lately, but this is an absolute novel idea of space travel and romance. Largely a three character space odessey, it plays out the feelings between the main protagonists under various circumstances. This one is really different from other space fantasies in its form, storyline and characterization. There are no final frontiers to explore, no alien beings, no worp speed ships (i.e. super light speed, this ship travels @ a measely 50% of light speed) and no chrome plated fancy weapons, a simple tale mounted on a what if situation which is plausible in a not so distant future. Passengers is about a magificient space ship Avalon which is carrying a crew of 258 and 5000 passengers from different walks of life and different skillsets with a promise of a new beginning and bright future. The whole crew and passengers are in hibernation in t ....

Chapekar Brothers movie review
This movie brings alive the life and times of the revolutionaries who were proud of laying down their lives, fighting against the tyranny of the British rule. It was sometime in 1896 that the seeds of the revolution were laid in the city of Pune, the land of Peshwas and the establishment of KESARI - the newspaper headed by Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak bringing a change in the mindset of people. To awake, arise and fight against injustice. Giriva Productions' Chapekar Brothers is a part of the history, which touches the period of the late 19th Century when Plague was prevalent amongst the inhabitants of Pune city. Agreed, that the root cause of plague is unhygienic conditions which were man-made, but instead of finding a solution or providing medical relief to the citizens of Pune, the arrogant British Commissioner W. C. Rand ordered the complete family members to evict the city in the c ....

Saala Khadoos - movie review
R Madhavan plays a failed, disheartened retired boxer who now, is a coach of women's boxing for the Indian Boxing Federation. Being true to his profession and the country, this nutty coach has the uncanny ability to spot budding talent. He comes up with a convincing and extremely realistic performance of a true and honest coach who puts all his efforts, time (and money) in nuturing raw talent. Being a true boxing coach, he cannot accept anything mediocre in his budding women boxers. Nothing less. Adi Tomar (R. Madhavan) is a Senior Boxing Coach for Women's Boxing Federation of India. The federation chief (Zakir Hussain) is a typical babu type who keeps his personal motives and benefits in mind while selection of the women boxer to represent the country. Adi's outspoken and blunt behaviour leads to him being transferred to Chennai, where he finds the selected women boxers belo ....

Kya Kool Hai Hum 3, film review
While the first two films, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum (2005) & Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum (2012) were trend-setters, Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 - the third installment of Kya Kool Hai Hum series disappoints. Claimed as India's first porn-com, the 3rd part has the least of genuine comedy content, and as regards the erotica - it has the lowest level of cheap gestures which can hardly 'arouse' interest among just out of college gals and guys. The story revolves around two money-hungry friends, Kanhaiya and Rocky, who get trapped in the international adult film industry. They are in a quandary when Kanhaiya’s lady love, Shalu, wants to meet his family to take their relationship further. The challenge is to convince Shalu’s “Sanskaari Babuji ....
