Tashi (Imran Khan) is to get married in a month but still doesn’t know if his fiancé is THE ONE!

Arup (Vir Das) can’t make up his mind who he wants to kill first – his girlfriend who has just dumped him or his stupid, annoying boss whose idea of creativity is sketching a smiling banana!

And Nitin (Kunaal Roy Kapur) is about to discover that eating delicious tandoori chicken... off a street vendor is going to give him the worst case of Delhi Belly he’s ever known!

Imran Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Vir Das and Poorna Jagannathan

Three young professionals inadvertently get entangled in a diamond smuggling racket carried on by a a Russian gangster. The diamonds which had to be delivered to the local gangster, Vijay Raaz gets into the possession of these three friends who are unaware of it.

So there is a strange mix-up which leads to a weird package to be delivered to the local goon.

So begins the troubles of these happy-go-lucky three friends who obviously have no experience in tackling Delhi's crazy underworld. Delhi Belly – the meanest comedy you’re ever likely to see.

Is it to the director Abhinay Deo’s credit that he has come up with such an unusual film which has bizarre incidents which appear realistic. Especially the part about Vir Das and his burqa and Kunaal Roy Kapur and his exploits with orange juice.

Imran Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Vir Das, Shehnaz Treasurywala, Vijay Raaz in Delhi Belly

Three regular blokes, living the regular life EXCEPT for one small detail – they are on the hit list of one of the world’s deadliest crime syndicates. Will they be able to get away before the shit hits the roof and it comes crashing down?

It so happens that Tashi's girlfriend Sonia (Shenaz Treasurywala) has to deliver a package which she asks Tashi to deliver the package. Tashi, in turn, asks his room mate Nitin to do so.

Nitin has developed 'Delhi Belly' which is a form of stomach trouble, so he gives to his third roommate Arup to deliver it to its destination. Arup also has to deliver a package which contains Nitin’s stool sample, and so there is a mix up and the wrong packages are delivered to their respective destinations

Imran Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Vir Das

Imran Khan is at his best as the journalist trapped between fleeing from death and struggling with his romance, Kunaal Roy Kapur’s gripes and groans seem a classic and realistic portrayal of Delhi belly. Vir Das is his usual competent self shown as a struggling cartoonist working for a boss who doesn’t respect his work, while Nitin (Kunal Roy Kapoor) is the photographer working with Tashi.

Vijay Raaz has finally got his worth of a role and could be nominated for the best actor in a negative role this year in Bollywood.

It is nice to see such a film to be cleared by the Censor Board which appears to mature with time. Characters actually speaking the language, actually spoke by the young people, with cuss and swear words, which themselves add to the fun factor of the film. Ram Sampath too has been with the times of the youth with his Swetty, DK Bose and Chudail.

Delhi Belly has an unpredictable sequence of events. This is what makes it different from the usual stuff in Bollywood. It is a bright, refreshing and a bold film which is a genuine comic thriller.
