Hidden deep
within the folds of our universe is a secret as ancient
as time itself. A secret, which if unraveled, could
unlock the destruction of mankind and the entire cosmos.
Only one man today can protect this secret and save us
from total destruction.
Drona - The warrior. He who shall protect the eternal
circle of life and death. The movie is a modern tale of
one man's spectacular voyage through a maze of mystic
myths and legendary legacies. It is about a youth’s
journey that will force him to face his fears and make
him the hero he was born to become.
And herein
lay his problem. He doesn’t know who or where Drona was!
But when fate brings the two together Riz immediately
recognizes him as the man he was waiting for. Just when
Aditya is about to be captured by Riz’s men; a cult that
believes that Drona is their messiah, rescues him.
Sonia, the
leader of the cult, reveals Aditya’s real identity to
him. Sonia then takes Aditya back to his place of birth,
the ancient kingdom of Pratapgarh where his mother,
Queen Jayati Devi would have all the answers to his
questions. But before he could meet up with his mother,
Riz and his army of the darkest powers catch up with
him.
Today, only one man can protect the universe's precious
secret and thus, save the human race from absolute
annihilation.

It is a tale of a clan of
warriors who have been protecting the supreme secret of
the elixir of life – the amrit (nectar) that was churned
out by the Gods but has been sought by the asuras (demons)
since forever. Drona is the title of the main person who
guards the secret.
Aditya (Abhishek Bachchan), a
young man unaware of his real identity, is brought up by a
foster family in a faraway distant town. A recurring
nightmare has been tormenting him ever since he was a
child.
On another part of the world, far away from Aditya, an
evil sorcerer, Riz Raizada, a descendant of the legendary
demons has become dangerously impatient, in his thirst to
take control over the universe. He is waiting for the
secret that would help him fulfill his dream. To get to
the secret, he would have to defeat Drona.
Stunts in this flick seem realistic and logical and there
ought to have been more those dangerous gravity defying
and adventurous moments. The film has more of an emotional
drama – a serious story and serene screenplay even that
fails to entertain the kids.
The performances are top
notch – especially from KK and Priyanka Chopra. Abhishek
Bachchan misses a great opportunity where he could have
made an impact. More so he doesn’t even demonstrate the
agility and elasticity to play superheroic stunts (Jackie
Chan or Akshay Kumar types).
Drona has a weak storyline, and it’s a mix of Harry
Potter, The Lord of the Rings and Sin City. It was filmed
in Prague, Bikaner, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Namibia.
What a pity!
