After ‘Heyy Babby’, its 'Housefull' the latest film
directed by Sajid Khan which is a slapstick, a
situational comedy about mistaken identities with the
top notch star cast, all of who seem to be in good form.
Housefull is a romantic comedy story which is about
Aarush (Akshay Kumar) who plays a luckless, lazy loser
trying to change his luck by finding true love. In this
quest for true love, how one lie leads to another and
how different people from different walks of life come
together, adding even more confusion to this hilarious
comedy of errors resulting in total chaos and mayhem.

Just when everything seems to be going right, Hetal's
estranged Gujju dad (Boman Irani) and Sandy's possessive
brother (Arjun Rampal) pay them a visit. A single lie
breeds hundreds of lies.
The oft repeated line initiated by Deepika Padukone who
tells Akshay "Jis jhooth se kissi ka ghar basta ho, voh
jhooth jhooth nahin hota", pretty much sums up the
essence of the film.
So we have lies and confusion, jokes at gays, mistaken
identities and ridiculous situations all around.
Akshay, Riteish and Lara pull it off once again with
their comic timing and excellent chemistry, and so does
Boman Irani. Arjun Rampal as the Major has a commanding
presence in his role of Deepika’s suspicious elder
brother while Deepika stands out from the rest due to
her earnestness and freshness with which she plays her
character.

So we have Aarush (Akshay Kumar) - the world's unluckiest
man and given to self pity at times. Being jinxed, he
believes his bad luck can vanish if he finds true love.
He is in Macao, where he is ditched by his girlfriend
Pooja (Malaika Arora). Then he moves back to London to be
with his good friend Bob (Riteish Deshmukh), and his
Gujarati wife, Hetal (Lara Dutta).
His friends in London get him hitched to a nice Hindustani
girl, Devika (Jiah Khan), whose father (Randhir Kapoor) is
the owner of the casino where Riteish and Lara work. But
bad luck seems to follow him to London too, and so during
their honeymoon, Devika ditches him for her Brit
boyfriend.
Dismayed with his streak of bad luck, Aarush decides to
commit suicide but is rescued by lovely lass, Sandy (Deepika
Padukone) and they fall in love.

Chunky Pandey as Aakhri
Pasta makes a notable and funny appearance in a small
cameo while, Jiah Khan, it seems is included only for
being there in bikinis and for the romantic song with
Akshay.
It has beautiful visuals as its shot at different
locations in England, Italy, Hong Kong and India. Already
the songs - Oh Girl You're Mine, Papa Jag Jayega, Aapka
Kya Hoga Janaab e ali have made it to the top ten and are
hit!
Housefull could have had a five star rating, had it not
been for some stupid scenes with a cheap slapstick comedy,
and the pitiable climax scene, where laughing gas is
leaked inside the Buckingham Palace and every one
including the Queen can’t cease to laugh.
'Housefull' isn’t about intelligent humour. It is a
brainless comedy and somewhat funny enough to tickle one's
funny bone at moments and is a fun to watch.
