Generosity in friendship, love and betrayal

Humsey Hai Jahaan, movie review

Director Mashoor Amrohi has tried his best to present the film as a spoof of other stereotypical commercial films. Humsey Hai Jahaan is the launch film of the grandson of the legendary film maker Kamal Amrohi.

Living life as a drifter and a con man, Sameer Khanna (Mashhoor Amrohi) makes his way to Singapore and lands a job working as a ‘Recovery agent’ for Gary Rosario (Jackie Shroff) who is an owner of nightclubs.

Earning his livelihood by cheating people of their money, Sameer’s life takes a turn when his own brother finds himself in need of financial help. With his boss Gary Rosario refusing to help him out, Sameer is left with no viable options. He comes up with a nasty plan of kidnapping Esha (Vishaka Singh) who is the daughter of a millionaire super star Gyaneshwar Singh (Shehzad Khan) in order to solve his financial crunch.

Sameer pretends to fall in love with her, makes her believe that they are made for each other and plans to take her to out for a romantic weekend on the beautiful Sentosa Island. The naïve girl Esha sees a likelihood of living a life full of happiness, gets taken in and agrees to elope with Sameer. But destiny has different plans for Sameer as he succumbs to the beauty of the kidnapped girl and even falls head over heels for her.

Gyaneshwar Singh is led to believe by Sameer and his accomplice / best friend that she has been kidnapped. Believing them, and thinking that his daughter is kidnapped, Gyaneshwar has no option but to call his best friend, Gary, who also happens to be Esha’s godfather, for help. Gary pledges to bring back Esha safe and sound and even puts his best man on the job who else but Sameer.

More complications unfold in this film Humsey Hai Jahaan, when Sameer gets involved in a drug deal and loses his love Esha to a gang of druglords Dabar (Mukesh Rishi) and Pran Panwara (Kiran Kumar). He has a complicated job on hand of freeing Esha from the crooked Dabar and Pran at the same time pretending of having never met Esha before in his life. Sameer has to work out his way out to be spared of Gary’s fury as well as get away from the financial problems staring him.

Humsey Hai JahaanThere is just one problem, circumstances and fate have revealed the reality of Sameer and exposed his game to Esha. Now she has no plans of letting him off the hook so easily, even if it means letting everyone think she’s dead. Esha wants payback with Sameer while the whole world is gunning him down with Esha’s presumed death.

A friendship begging for generosity, a love screaming from betrayal and pride waiting to be awakened, Hum Sey Hai Jahaan is a rollercoaster ride that will jolt your senses to laughter and entertainment. Technically the camera and direction are all right. Occasionally used abusive language, average direction and just okay performances by the actors in this movie.
