There is teenage energy, love, comedy, music, emotions
and freshness in “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na”. It is a
complete entertainer with a predictable story line that
starts with a low pace, a typical bollywood style climax
and has many hilarious moments which are impressive. A
bit lengthy in the second half, the film deserves a
watch for the lively lead pair, wonderful cameos, and
writer-director Abbas Tyrewala's fresh approach to
filmmaking.
Jai (Imran Khan) and Aditi (Genelia D'Souza) are best
friends since the first day of college but unaware of
the fact that they may actually be in love with each
other. They share their emotions and have fun together
with Rotlu, Jiggy, Bombs and Shaleen. College just over
now, Jai prepares to look out for work. Aditi wonders
how fast their college days have passed – “talking over
the phone” as Jai’s mother puts it.

Smita Patil’s son Prateik
Babbar makes an impressive debut as Genelia’s brother.
Amongst their friends, Ravindra ‘Rotlu’ as the name
suggests, is the whiner of the group. He will do any
thing for friends while Sandhya 'Bombs', Jignesh and
Shahleen are perfect and very natural college friends.
Jaane Tu … portrays the changing social culture which is
about single parents, broken marriage relationships and
kids suffering unprotected childhood. It has humorous
scenes between Jai’s mother and the talking photo-frame
of Jai’s father. Another funny instance is the sequence
of brothers Bhaloo and Baghera – a special appearance by
Sohail and Arbaz Khan.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and
directed by Abbas Tyrewala who makes a directorial
debut. Songs such as Pappu Can’t Dance, Kahin pe nigahen
and the melodious Kabhi Kabhi Aditi are composed by A.R.
Rahman.
Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na is definitely – a must watch
movie.

Jai and Aditi insist that they are 'only friends' while
the rest of the world believes that they realize the
fact that the two are made for each other. Aditi
announces to find a nice girl for her best friend Jai.
It is only when Jai starts going out with another girl
Meghna (Manjari Phadnis), Aditi realizes that she has
feelings for Jai.
In a confused state of mind
how to deal with the emotions, she agrees to get married
to a debonair, rich and what seems like an ideal guy. It
is predictable now onwards, but Abbas Tyrewala’s
straightforward attempt in the script which is
commendable.
Imran Khan’s character Jai or just 'Rats' for his best
friend Aditi, hails from the town of Ranjhore in
Rajasthan. Jai is just opposite of what a typical Rathore
from Ranjhore is supposed to be- he is pleasant, kind,
warm, humorous, sensitive and non-violent. His mother
Savitri, is a social worker and fights for human rights
issues. They share a great friendship, but also completely
respect each other's space.
Aditi or ‘Meow’ for Jai, is high on life laughs easy,
cries easy, gets into scraps, adopts stray kittens. She
could turn into a vicious kitten and even foul mouthed
should someone else trouble or hurt her best friend Jai.
Jai and Aditi connected the first day they met, and when
they are not together, they are on the phone. And so, to
friends and family, it is simply a question of time before
the two get married.
