An automobile engineer by day and a dancing sensation by night, Jimmy works as a DJ in the local discotheque to pay off the debts left behind by his late father. He is a workaholic till he meets a rich young girl and falls in love with her. Like in the some movies of 1970s and 1980, Jimmy is mistakenly told that he is about to die very soon.
In the dead of the night, a young woman’s dead body is recovered by the police. All leads point to Jimmy. This chubby, innocent-looking fellow gets embroiled in a murder case, and to everyone’s surprise he even accepts that he is the killer. The confession is obviously a lie. And Jimmy is lying for a reason.
Jimmy confesses to a murder in return for money which would help him clear his father’s debts before his death. Jimmy knows that he is suffering from brain tumour, and has only a few days to live.
But he has to pay off a huge loan before he dies. So he takes the blame of a murder, committed by someone else, and gets Rs 50 lakh for his troubles. While everybody is shocked, Jimmy owns up to the murder and is sentenced to death.
But soon he realizes that he is being used as a puppet in a bigger play. As just when his problems get resolved, he gets attacked in jail. In a sudden twist of fate, Jimmy realizes in jail that he has been drawn in to a vicious conspiracy. But on learning of the mistake in the diagnosis, Jimmy now makes it his mission to go after the guys who framed him. However it is too late… or is it? What follows is a spine-chilling suspense drama that unfolds in this fast-paced saga of crime, deceit and murder.
There are many songs in the film, and only the hummable Marhaba has been well choreographed. The film has a lot of fight and dancing sequences and Mimoh gets a chance to do a lot of both and is good too.
Jimmy, the film is directed by Raj N C Sippy, who gave impressive films like Satte Pe Satta, Inkaar and Boxer. But he seems to have gone horribly wrong in this film, which looks like a mishmash of movies from the 1970s and something recent like Bluffmaster, etc.
The broad-shouldered long haired Mimoh is the son of Mithun Chakraborty. And what do you expect from the newcomers Mimoh Chakraborty, and the cute girl Vivana who is launched in this non starter. Jimmy is hardly the kind of launching paid that any youngster could look forward to. It is disappointing to say the least with much pity towards the unlucky Mimoh and Vivana.
