A
contemporary tale of traditional massacre erupting in
the heartland of central India where certain villages
still follow cruel age-old customs. This is where a
story of passion, dishonor and deceit unfolds; where the
sweet innocence of youth is throttled by uncompromising
beliefs.
The film opens in the capital where two youths Ria and
Kush fall in love. Ria (Uvika Choudhary ) is a beautiful
city girl who is Madhur and Komal’s daughter. Kush (Sarrtaj
Gill) is a young charming boy who has come from South
Africa to India for his MBA.
Sarrtaj plays the role of Kush, a young charming boy.

Ria has no idea that Omkar is her grandfather.
Madhur (Mohnish Bahl) is Ria’s father, had left his
native village due to differences with Omkar over the
ruthless pratha (tradition) of honour killings. Madhur
is a loving father to Ria and works for the Human Rights
Commission. He is a man of principles and intellect, he
exhibits courage to stand in opposition to his father
Omkar Chaudhary (Om Puri) in a conflict of beliefs and
values.
Madhur is chosen to lead a commission to investigate the
suspicious deaths of young Veer & Sureeli. Komal
Chaudhary (Anooradha Patel) is Madhur’s (Mohnish Bahl)
wife. She is a constant support system for her husband.
The boy who was found dead - Veer’s father Daulat Singh
is a staunch supporter of this pratha and is unmoved
with his son’s death. Daulat Singh (Govind Namdev) is a
very aggressive follower of the Khap tradition and he
does not seem to have any regret after killing his own
son in the name of purification. He is the constant
obstacle in the way of Ria and Kush and their struggle
marks the importance of this character.

Ria and Kush get trapped into the khap traditions and then
begins the struggle of survival and escape from the
village.
Meanwhile, news channels highlight the death of the local
couple Veer and Sureeli who are found dead in Omkar
Chaudhary’s village.
Omkar Chaudhary (Om Puri) is the President of Khap and
Ria’s grand father. He is the Sarpanch (President) of the
Khap Panchayat. Omkar is a stoic man with very rigid
beliefs but gradually in the film we see multiple layers
in his personality.

However, Sukhiram is the
girl Sureeli’s father, who is broken by his daughter’s
demise. Sukhiram (Manoj Pahwa) father of the girl who is
killed as per the tradition of the Khap Panchayat, leaves
Sukhiram extremely bitter and causes a marked change in
his attitude towards honour killings.
Will Sukhiram be weakened and reveal all to the Human
Rights commission?
Torn between his love for his son and his strong belief in
the pratha, Omkar promises Madhur that he would put an end
to the ruthless killings in the village.
Ria and Kush are also pulled into the vortex of these
inhuman customs.
How do the patriarchs of the pratha (system) respond to
these happenings? Does Omkar Chaudhary change for the sake
of his granddaughter? These are the questions that the
film attempts to raise.
A serious issue based film.
