Go Goa Gone – movie review

A first zombie-comedy-thriller from Bollywood

A Bollywood zom-com featuring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Khemu, Vir Das, Puja Gupta and Larissa Bonesi in the lead roles. It is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. It is actually an action-adventure cum comedy film – Go Goa Gone.

Hardik (Kunal Khemu) and Luv (Vir Das) are two dope heads, living with their friend Bunny (Anand Tiwari).
Hardik has been out of his job and Luv suddenly feels unlucky as he gets dumped by his girlfriend. Bunny, their friend is to leave for Goa for an official work, so the two decide to tag along with him, as a relaxation trip.

While in Goa, Luv falls for Luna (Puja Gupta) who is a free spirited girl. Luna invites him and his friends for a rave party organized by the Russian mafia, being held on a secluded island. She is unknown to the fact of the surprise in store for all of them.

The party is the brainchild of the macho Russian Mafioso, Boris, to launch the ultimate party drug D2RF.

The next morning, the trio find that the island has been infected by the ‘living dead’. Luna, too is along with them. To survive, the three along with Luna, stay together.

Enters a Russian mafia leader – Boris (Saif Ali Khan) who reveals himself to be the head of the Russian mafia and also a zombie slayer

But something is not right on this island! All of a sudden, they are accosted by zombies! It is Boris who leads them to defend themselves against these ‘dead-creatures’.

Boris then reveals his identity. He isn’t the Russian guy, but turns out to be a guy from Delhi.

Where do these zombies come from. And why has this cold-hearted drug-dealing don come to save their lives?

Together they need to get the hell out of the infected island!

This one is a comedy cum horror-thriller. Go Goa Gone is all of these rolled into one. A unique combination of fear and fun makes this film a one-of-a-kind genre bender – A Zombie Comedy, or ZOMCOM!

Saif Ali Khan in his blonde avataar, balances well – his part as the Russian mafia and the usual self that of a Delhi ka kuda. The trio – Kunal Khemu, Vir Das and Anand Tiwari are almost real in their characters. Kunal Khemu has again given a punch-packed performance. Vir Das and Anand Tiwari are very realistic.

Go Goa Gone is the first, such a kind of a zombie film in Bollywood. It is different from the ones you have seen before. This one is a fun watching it.
