A 42 year old moonlighting as a 24 year old handsome dude.

A 42 year old moonlighting as a 24 year old handsome dude. I M 24 movie review…

Saying the truth was always difficult, and lying, they say, is much simpler.

Shubendu (Rajat Kapoor) lives by the tougher option. But when this honest, 42 year old balding writer falls in love with a 22 year old beauty queen, he is tempted to lie.

It is a tough life for this failed writer for lying about his age. Conversely it is as smooth as butter for his roommate Gagan (Ranvir Shorey) to lie and weave a web of stories around that lie. Gagan is a struggling actor and talks big, most of the times he is a compulsive liar.

Shubhendu meets an aspiring beauty contestant ‘Pageant Queen – Kanak’ (Manjari Fadnis) through an online chat-room. She is 22 and so he mentions his age as a 24-year-old handsome dude writing stories for films for the top production houses in Bollywood.

How can the room partner Gagan stay behind? This wannabe actor cooks up yarns about his luxurious lifestyle, which he isn’t. Gagan woos Sheila (Neha Dhupia), who is also a struggler in Bollywood, but has had done item number for B grade films.

What’s more, Shubendu’s jerk of a roommate, Gagan, who swears by the magic of lies, helps him cook up stories. What follows is a hilarious ride of lies, cover-ups, goof-ups and contradicting tales.

Shubendu begins enjoying this ride. Why didn’t he know that lying was so much fun?! But at some point, the madness has got to stop. The question is: When?

Then there is dummy director Nayan Sidhwani (Saurabh Shukla) and his vampish muse (Lillete Dubey) and a waiter who is a part-time-actor (Vijay Raaz).

This Saurabh Shukla directed romantic comedy will touch all hearts, both young and old.

Saurabh Shukla has included some spoofs on popular cinema characters like those of aging vamps and cunning ones in Bollywood. He sends a message for young women that a man who in his forties, and further, even balding needn’t be neglected as he may have a heart of pure gold (as this character in this film).

There is nothing much in the story, except a few punch lines, and some really funny one-liners. Overall it is the feisty performance from Rajat Kapoor and Ranvir Shourie which makes the film worth a watch.

For Rajat Kapoor and Ranvir Shourie fans, its laughs and entertainment.
