Krrish 3 – movie review

Bollywood can proudly announce its arrival to the world with its Super Hero Krrish, the most powerful antagonist – Kaal, Kaya the chameleon – who can adapt any person’s character and body, the powerful Cheetahwoman and the Antman who creates havoc with his long, highly flexible forked tongue that can be extended and used to trap its prey.

After defeating the villainous Dr. Siddhant Arya (Naseeruddin Shah) , and bringing his father Rohit back from the dead, Krrish (Hritik Roshan) continued fighting against evil and saving innocent lives in Krrish 3.

Briefly the characters of its first two prequels and then the present bunch of good ones and the baddies are introduced with a voice over by Amitabh Bachchan.

Krishna, as his real name is living a happily married life with Priya (Priyanka Chopra), while Rohit is using his scientific brilliance to benefit society. Krrish is everyone’s favorite superhero saviour.

While Priya is working with a Television Channel as the news reporter, her husband – Krishna is customarily sacked by his bosses for his unsatisfactory performances various from the various ‘odd’ jobs he takes up. It happens that at the right time when he is needed in the office, he vanishes.

Yes he disappears for a very valid reason, but how could he yell and inform his seniors that he is the same Krrish who has saved the lives of passengers aboard a jet whose front wheels are jammed while landing at a Mumbai airport. Or that he is the superhero who has saved his bank being robbed or saving a child entangled in mid air between two buildings.

Unknown to them, a dark force is growing in another part of the world. Kaal (Vivek Oberoi), an evil genius, is selfishly misusing his powers to spread fear, death and destruction. And he is being assisted by an army of very dangerous beings, which he has created himself.

Not long after Kaal’s plans are put into action, both Rohit and Krrish find themselves faced with a crisis of epic proportions, which only they can resolve, together. but when they finally cross paths with Kaal and his army, neither of them is prepared for what lies ahead.

Kaal not only brings the world to the brink of disaster, he also puts the strength and love of Krishna and his family to the test.

Krrish has to somehow find the power within to face an unbeatable foe.

The greatest battle between darkness and light begins….

While the bad forces of this world aim for destruction of property, annihilation of human lives, Krrish has the only mission in life – to bring fight the evil forces and bring happiness and smiles all around.

Hritik Roshan as the super-hero is brilliant, at times displaying his natural cuts and superbly toned body. The character of Krrish could not have been played any better by any other hero in Bollywood.

Priyanka Chopra as his wife hasn’t much to perform or emote – just that she has to look pretty on the television and as a goody goody wifey to the super hero.

Most impressive of the other cast is Kangana Ranaut who plays the part of Kaya – the chameleon created by Kaal. Kangana slips into various characters with ease, and she displays the agility and evil of Kaya.

Except from his role of Aditya in Saathiya (2002), Kaal’s character played by Vivek Oberoi is the impressive performance of his career. He has superbly modulated his voice and speech.

There are some unimpressive characters like the scientist father – Rohit Mehra with his unrealistic stuffed stomach and apparently artificially voice of an elderly gentleman and the renowned scientist played by Arif Zakaria who is so wide eyed all throughout, acting over surprised / shocked like that he hasn’t ever seen an epidemic all through his life.

Krrish 3 is an enjoyable fare which can be watched with your family this festive season. Superb SFX.
