At times the business tilted towards sleaze and this is when an upright police officer is posted in Mumbai who cracks down the nexus between the bar-owners and the police force. He is now bent upon exposing the rats amidst the men of his own department.
Interestingly, the film talks upon the subject of the proximity to a policeman. There is nothing like a good cop or bad cop. A cop is a cop. That sets the premise for this fast-paced action oriented police-drama.
Shetty (Prakash Raj) is a highly connected person owning several dance bars. Running several ‘night-life establishments’ needs him to bend the rules at several places and that is when these dance bar owners find a ‘contact’ within the police department for greasing the palms of the lawkeepers for them to turn a blind eye towards other nefarious activities happening in the premises.
The stylish upright cop if Abhijeet Patil (Sachiin Joshi) an audaciously overconfident inspector who cannot stand the actocities inflicted upcon the girls and women who are employed at the bars.
We then have a television reporter Jiah (Vimala Raman) who is keen to have her own ‘breaking news’ sort of stories.
There is also an unscrupulous CBI Officer, Yadav (Sudesh Berry), the hero Abhijeet Patil’s boss-cum-mamu ACP Gaitonde (Mahesh Manjrekar), another cop Manish (Prashant Narayanan) and the glamorous Rani (Gihana Khan) who also doubles up as Shetty’s mistress cum item girl.
The film aptly mirrors the ugly face of Mumbai. Underlying the message that things need to change.
