Raat Gayi Baat Gayi is a whodunit on a one night stand
that could have been. No one knows for sure if it
actually happened. The One Night Stand is never ever
just a one night stand. It either erupts into a huge,
life altering explosion or quietly morphs into a
dangerously disruptive, scary experience that makes you
wish you never went to bed again with a stranger. In
fact, you sometimes wish you never went to bed again
with anyone.
Rahul (Rajat Kapoor) is an ad film maker and a perfect
family man. He and Mitali (Iravati Harshe) have been
married for eight years now and they have a beautiful
daughter that he dotes upon.

Rahul wakes up with a bad hangover after a party the
night before. There he had met a sexy young woman -
Sophia (Neha Dhupia). They got drunk and there were
sparks flying. But Rahul doesn't remember what happened
after that. Did they…. Go all the way?
His wife, Mitali is in a
particularly bad mood this morning with constant
cribbing. Whilst her voice crashes through his head, he
remembers snatches of a conversation he had the previous
night, at a party with the stunning Sophia.
And Rahul suspects that his wife might know about his
little escapade last night. As he blinks through his
thoughts, he stumbles on the fact that one thing led to
another and Sophia and he got drunk, talked a lot and
finally ended up in bed, making crazy love to each other
- or did they? The end of the night remains hazy. Rahul
starts chasing his night- trying to retrieve it- trying
to find out what really happened.

Rahul is loyal to his
friends, socially successful and charming. A single
encounter with a mysterious woman changes a lot of
things he would formerly assume as established facts
about himself and his married life.
Dalip Tahil as Saxena a middle aged writer who has had his
moments of glory, fame and success. Some people say that
he married Jolly (Navneet Nishan) for money. He is the
intellectual that everyone wants to be with whereas Jolly
is often the butt of many jokes.
Anu Menon as Nandini is married to Amit (Vinay Pathak).
The strain in their relationship begins when she catches
him watching porn. She sees it as an indication of a
failure of their relationship. She hopes to talk about it
to her friends, Jolly and Mitali.

Whats worse is that Mitali just can't seem to keep it
together around him - she's livid, she's upset, she's not
telling him why - all rolled into one and Rahul keeps
thinking back to the previous night and wondering if she
caught a whiff of what happened the previous night with
Sophia.
As he chases his night for answers, his friends Saxena and
Amit are going through their own marital crises of sorts.
Driven to his wit's end he realizes he must seek Sophia
out to restore his sanity.
Neha Dhupia as Sophia is the stereotypical femme fatale.
An aspiring actor who holds everybody's attention at the
party but remains distant and aloof. Her character is like
a jigsaw puzzle in the film, which slowly unfolds through
a series of interesting interactions with the men she
meets.
This film is for audiences looking desperately for new
ideas, new screenplays to regenerate their love for good,
exciting, fun cinema. It is Dangerous and edgy as it may
be, it's also funny. Clever, funny, incredibly refreshing,
Raat Gayi, Baat Gayi? is a film that will keep you
guessing all the way through.
