A complicated love story

Radio, movie review

Ishaan Trivedi’s Radio is a story of love relationships and humor which attempts to explore the man-woman relationship in a metropolis. It is a nice musical film which has coffee bars, music and social networking sites. Radio movie review…

Radio jockey Vivan Shah (Himesh Reshammiya) has more than music on his mind. He is about to divorce his wife Pooja (Sonal Sehgal) and the reason cited is lack of compatibility between the two. It is Pooja who wants a divorce.

A small town boy and now a successful RJ Vivan Shah runs a show on a FM Radio channel on relationships and is known as a love guru who solves relationship issues.
As he is depressed about his love life, he is unable to handle his job properly. His co host, Shanaya (Shenaz Treasurywala) falls in love with him.

The Parsi-Punjabi RJ Shanaya (Shehnaz Treasurywala) enters his life and the two end up as co-hosts on a show. They share great chemistry that makes his wife think twice about parting ways with him.

But after discovering that Vivan still loves his ex-wife Pooja (Sonal Sehgal), she tries to bring the couple together.

As Shanaya is always seen with Vivan, Pooja starts suspecting the two. Vivan keeps telling that he’ll never love anyone else after a divorce, he finally realizes that he loves Shanaya and proposes to her.

Himesh has grown as an actor, and performs very well in some tender moments in the film Radio. He looks better and more acceptable than his earlier releases. Shehnaz looks extremely cute and acts natural. Sonal Sehgal has a gorgeous face but her character spends too much time weeping in whatever lesser moments she has in the film. Paresh Rawal, in a guest appearance makes his presence felt with splendid comic timing.

The story of Radio is usual – a couple that goes separate ways, then man meets another woman, later ex-wife develops a soft corner, much later man is torn between the two women. In the end, however, Vivan realizes that he may have a soft spot for Pooja, but he wants to spend his life with Shanaya.

The director follows a non-linear pattern of story telling along with elaborate chapter titles, which make the simple three liner tale rather confusing.
The plus point of this film is the top notch music and melodious numbers by Himesh The songs Teri meri dosti ka asmaan and Mann Ka Radio stay with you long after the film is over.
